Market Outlook 2024-2032
The expansion of offshore wind is heading towards a bottleneck in the supply chain in 2027. UNLESS decisions are made within the next year to establish new tower factories in Europe.

Installation vessel ready for new offshore adventures
After an extended stay at Odense Port, where the installation vessel, Wind Energy, underwent a comprehensive retrofitting process at FAYARD A/S, it was time to test the ship's main and auxiliary cranes, each with a capacity of 880 tons. Prior to this, the ship had its legs reinstalled and spud cans (support feet) mounted, and now the vessel is ready to handle the large offshore wind turbines.
LORC is building the world's most powerful testing facility
In collaboration with Odense Port and R&D Test Systems, LORC is constructing the world's most powerful testing facility for wind turbine bearings. The new, unique test hall will be LORC's fourth at the port - and simultaneously the largest investment at 300 million DKK, of which 80 million DKK is granted from the Ministry of Energy's Greenlab program. The testing facility contributes to strengthening Denmark's leading position in wind turbine technology, and it is essential for the European wind industry that this technology is available in Europe.
Four finalists for the master plan of Odense Dry Port
"There has been overwhelming interest, also internationally, in participating in the project competition for the best master plan for Odense Dry Port. We have now chosen to proceed with four finalists, one of which is foreign. I am incredibly excited to see their proposals on how we can pave new ways with Denmark's largest logistics hub - and especially what input we receive for possible sustainable solutions," says CEO of Odense Port, Carsten Aa, about the announcement of the four finalists in the project competition, which are: 1. Chetwoods Architects together with Johansen Skovsted Arkitekter, Evolve Consulting Engineers, and Turner & Townsend, 2. WSP Denmark together with Gottlieb Paludan Architects, 3. Cowi together with Arkitema and Larson Strategic Design Consultancy, and 4. ak83 together with EKJ Consulting Engineers.
The green transition needs a red carpet
Ports have become the hub of the green transition, and Odense Port has become an epicentre for offshore wind. Despite being Denmark's largest port, with 8.5 million square metres, we will run out of space within a few years. As early as 2026, offshore wind manufacturers will struggle to find the necessary space for their productions in Europe. Therefore, we need a fast track scheme for the expansion of wind ports asap, so that we can continue to facilitate the green transition.
Bladt Industries A/S sold to CS Wind PT
The world's largest manufacturer of wind turbine towers - South Korean CS Wind - has just announced that the company has acquired Bladt Industries, which for many years has been one of the largest players at Odense Port, where they have built both huge foundations for offshore wind turbines and substations for offshore wind. We look forward to working with CS Wind. The company is known in the industry for its high quality tower production, punctual delivery and world-class production management and production technology.
Port expansion for the green transition
If Denmark is to keep up with developments and Odense Port is to remain one of Europe's leading production ports within offshore wind, it is imperative that Odense Port's quay areas and fairway are expanded. The port expansion is thus crucial for Denmark's contribution to the green transition and the realization of the political climate goals.
Odense Port is going to expand fairway with EU support
Odense Port has been granted DKK 15 million from the EU Infrastructure Fund to carry out a feasibility study on how to expand fairway and quays. Sweco, with whom the Port has signed a consultancy agreement, is now in the process of mapping the scope of the project and carrying out the necessary environmental screenings.
Odense Port establishes Denmark's largest dry port
One million square metres between Odense and Årslev will be developed into a sustainable logistics hub to improve the security of supplies for the Port's customers within the green transition. Stay tuned on the development of our high-tech dry port here
Robot center comes to Odense Port
A new Danish robotics center, called Large Structure Production Center, will soon move into Odense Port, with the University of Southern Denmark at the helm - and we have great expectations for the centre, which will be finished in 2025. The aim of the robotics centre is to develop robots that can build large structures such as wind turbines, ships and buildings - creating huge synergies for the shipyard Fayard as well as the wind industry and sub-suppliers located at Odense Port.
